-Change your air filters every 30 days.
-Keep foliage from growing around and into your outdoor unit.
-If you are going to enclose your outdoor unit with decorative lattice make sure it is far enough away from the unit to allow for proper airflow (minimum 12" of clearance).
We are getting close to the part of the year that is cool in the mornings, warm in the afternoon, cool in the evening. If you are going to turn your thermostat to the match these changes in temperature please be sure to turn it to off first, give it about 10 minutes then turn it to the desired setting (cool or heat). This will keep the system from locking out on a safety control, disabling the unit.
Having your system cleaned and checked will ensure maximum performance before heating season is upon us in full swing. If you have a furnace, dirty heat exchangers minimize heat transfer causing more use of fuel to heat your home. If you have a heat pump, a dirty indoor coil minimizes heat transfer causing the heat strips to run more using more electricity to heat your home. Our PTU thoroughly cleans and checks your system, catching possible problems before heating seasons is upon us.
An auto changeover thermostat was made for spring and fall. It will change
from heating to cooling automatically. You can set the heat for up to three
or four degrees from the cooling. For example cooling set at 74 and heating
set at 70. This deadband will keep the heating and cooling functions from
fighting each other. The auto changover thermostat will keep you more
comfortable in the fluctuating temperatures of the fall.
